What to expect

Island exploration doesn't get much better than this. On this full day experience, you'll venture into both a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arianne, one of our local guides, says, ‘I really love this tour because it's an overdose of nature, focusing on the volcanology of the present and the past.' But there's more – there's also the remote village of Taganana, viewpoints and one of the most popular beaches in Tenerife.

Leaving your hotel in an eight-seater minivan, you'll head to La Laguna, famed for its pastel-coloured palaces and collection of Mudejar-style chapels, churches and convents. A quarter of the town's structures date from the colonial period up to the 18th century. So rich is its architectural heritage that UNESCO listed it in 1999 because of its authenticity. After free time to explore La Laguna at your own pace, why not mingle with locals at the weekly market?

From here, you'll head to the crescent-shaped beach of Las Teresitas, complete with palm trees. The scenery changes dramatically next, as we journey through the laurel forest of Las Mercedes en route to Taganana. This whitewashed hamlet cascades down a slope in Anaga Rural Park. Here, you'll enjoy a lunch made from locally sourced ingredients in a family-run restaurant. The afternoon features a scenic drive through the volcanic Anaga Mountains – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – stopping at the 360-degree viewpoint at Pico del Inglés and at Cruz del Carmen viewpoint.

Separated from friends on 2 buses. Commentary in 2 languages nd couldn't hear as no guide on my bus. Bus felt cramped nd difficult to get in nd out of. Meal was very average. 82 euros was too expensive for what we got on trip.

Half-day private tour of Teide National Park

After a private pick-up from your accommodation, you'll stop at impressive viewpoints along the way – perfect for capturing photos of the volcanic formations and unique island flora. As local guide Carlos says, “Every layer of Teide's rock tells a story of fire and time. Standing here, you're seeing millions of years of the island's volcanic history unfold before your eyes.” You'll take a breather at Las Canadas del Teide, a massive volcanic basin shaped over centuries of eruptions that feels like you're stepping onto another planet. It's the perfect spot to stretch your legs, breathe in the crisp mountain air and sip something warm. With no rush and a pace tailored especially to you, you'll have time to experience Teide's volcanic beauty in your own way. You'll wander through immersive exhibits that dive into the island's origins, with guides on hand to share fascinating insights. You'll also find a native flora garden and interactive displays that trace the island's historic altitude zones through the eyes of legendary explorers like Alexander von Humboldt. There's even a cosy café and a shop if you fancy a bite or a keepsake. When you're ready, you'll hop back in the vehicle for a comfortable ride back to your hotel.

VIP La Gomera by minivan tour from north of Tenerife

La Gomera is the Canary Island where time stood still. Be whisked away in VIP class on the ferry from Tenerife and explore its peaks and valleys in the best way possible – by luxury minivan. Highlights include Abrante viewpoint, San Sebastian and Garajonay National Park – Spain's last remaining rainforest. Arianne, one of our guides on this tour says, "La Gomera is a return to the past, to the origin of the Canary Islands. It's a totally different world."In little over half an hour after landing, you'll go from sea level to more than 1,300m as you snake your way up towards Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are camera-grabbing views of the island's Jurassic-like landscapes along the way. Garajonay is steeped in Canarian mythology, as your guide will explain. There's a stop to explore the mystical Laguna Grande laurel forest, which is so moist that many tree trunks are smothered in moss. You'll tuck into a typical Canarian lunch at a restaurant in the heart of this peaceful and natural forest setting. Here you'll experience a demonstration of silbo gomero, the ancient ‘whistling language' used by islanders to communicate over long distances from valley to valley. After this peek into the heritage of La Gomera, which is still taught in schools there today, you'll head to a square by the port for a drink, with free time to wander the capital, San Sebastian. Finish off the day in style as you head to the VIP section of the ferry where food and drinks are included to while away the crossing.
